Sentiments Of A Southern Artist: "Birthday Dinner"

So last night while my cousin Donna and I were enjoying her 55th birthday dinner, we hear these two female voices at the next table discussing their frustration in turning Thirty this year.

Donna and I just looked at one another in amazement!  My cousin swallowed hard on a bite of Birthday Cake and said to me, "If those little sisters ONLY KNEW!"

I chimed in and said rather loudly (hoping these two beautiful young ladies next to us could hear), "Shoot..turning Forty Trumped Thirty..and Fifty Trumped Forty..and I'm praying every decade from here just gets better and better!"

Donna and I just busted out in laughter.  Our age and the Wrinkles that came with it, symbolize where we are in life.  And how we arrived.

Personally..I've lived ladies!  I've Loved.  I've Been Loved!  And no matter what number we find ourselves looking at, LOVE TRUMPS EVERYTHING!

Birthdays.  The things they make you think about!

What a great photo...you both look beautiful! I can barely remember turning 30...I had a new baby and a two-year-old, who had time to worry about age?

Thanks for your visit...always good to "see" you!

Hi hear ya! I don't know why we get so upset about celebrating a birhday. I'm determined to plan a big blow-out, exactly as I want it, for my 50th in 3 years!

In the words of my grandfather (when asked about how he felt about turning older) - "It's better than the alternative!" I say you are only as old as you feel!

You've got me laughing, sugar! All those wrinkles are BEAUTY MARKS, did someone forget to tell you?! Chuckle! The older I get the more I love & enjoy life ... & trust me, I've put some rubber behind this gal!

Give Mother my hug.
Hugs of love, Terri ~

I'm right there with you, Terri! The only way I would want to be young again is if I knew everything that I know now, and since that ain't going to happen... I'll settle for the wisdom of the ages!!
