"It Just Comes Naturally"

Today A Friend Of A Friend Asked Me, "Terri, What's Your Creative Process?"  And Y'all, I Actually Had To Stop For A Minute And Think (Almost Out Loud But Thought Better Of Moving My Lips)..But Seriously That's Like Asking Me How I Walk Or Breathe.  I Truly Don't Think Much About It.  It Just Comes Naturally.

My Process And What I Eventually Manage To Get On Canvas (or Soldered Using Glass), Is Probably Best Defined By My Own Set Of Curiosities And Values.  I Suppose I Can Appreciate Someone's Interest In Where It All Begins.  But The Only Immediate Answer I Know For Sure Is:  COLOR.

Oh..And Maybe "LIGHT".  But To Me..There Is No Color Without The Addition Of Light.  And There Is Definitely No Creativity When Either One Are Absent.  I Must Confess..I Love It When Light Bounces Back At Me When I'm Laying In Oil On A Canvas.  All The Different Refractions Of Color And Rhythm.  I'm Totally Engaged Within Those Moments.  At My Optimal Height As A Human Being I Guess You Could Say.

Creating Is My Way Out Of Suffering.  A Way Of Distancing Myself From Worrying About My Future Or My Past.  I'll Tell Y'all A Little Secret.  It's Remembering To Stay Focused On "The Present" That's The Real Trick!  Creation (In Any Form Or Medium) Forces You To Be Completely THERE.  There With The Flow Of All Things Peaceful And Beautiful.

Dearest Terri,

When I am creating I feel the same way as you do out of the ashes of life there is the creating force within me to help me overcome even for a little while the cares of my life! It comes out of my soul and I become the creation and it is part of me. Gee I just thought that God must feel the same way when he created each of us.....WOW.....not that I feel I am God but the feeling of closeness with something that comes from deep within you and a connection with it. Forgive me for rambling on!!

I love your work so much and would love for one day to sit in your studio and just be quite and watch you create these wonderful paintings!! You are blessed and I am blessed to have found You in Blogland!!

A Beautiful Day to You!!

Hugs,

Susan

beautiful post from a beautiful woman. i love the light, i know what you are talking about. i seem to dream a painting. if one isn't working for me, i set it aside and wait until i've dreamt about it again...then it all makes sense to me where i need to go with it. i love the feeling of waking up and shaking darling hubby and saying 'i had another dream..and i am ready to finish 'fairy dreamer'" which is what happened this morning!

you have to wonder where that inspiration comes from. well, i know where it comes from but the miracle of it all will never cease to amaze me!!

love to you this saturday night!
