"Vanilla" 12X7 Oil On Textured Board

Friends I've Never Painted Horse Flesh In My Entire Life, But I've Been Feeling Sentimental..Maybe Even A Bit Melancholy Lately, And Decided To Draft Something From My Past.

Meet "Vanilla". A Sweet Mare That Once Belonged To My Cousin Jamie In Soperton, Georgia.  When We Were Teens, I'd Get A Kick Out Spending Part Of My Summer Vacation With Her Deep In Farm Country. Jamie Taught Me To Ride And For Some Reason I've Had Those Special Times Pressin' On My Spirit Lately.  So I Just Went With It.

Okay, Just So Y'all Know (Big Southern Grin)..I'm Fully Aware This Composition Won't Win Any Ribbons. But Sometimes It Just Feels Good To Play.

Sweet Vanilla And Time On My Uncle's Farm, Played An Important Role In My Life.  When I Finish This Piece, I'll Probably End Up Propping It On My Bedside Table For Awhile.  Just To Feel Close To Those Memories Again.

Thanks To Anyone Who May Have Visited Today.  Have A Great Weekend Everybody!

Sending Hugs Of Some Of The Purest Georgia Sunshine Ever!
Terri

I love it, especially the look of contentment on the girl's face. So sweet.

You know, it is a little whimsical, like our memories of childhood can be! It looks like an illustration in a child's book...hmmmmm, maybe God is leading?!?!?!

Blessings!

I really like the spirit of this painting. It has a lot of movement in how you painted it. The horse looks like he's about to nose her for a rub. Very sweet memory.

I like the composition...that space between them makes the reaching of Vanilla out to the girl even more noticeable...and her thoughtful posture and expression makes one wonder whether the horse is actually there, or a memory from her past....like yours :)

Painting is good therapy, isn't it..haha!
