"The Temptation Of Oil" Settling My Nerves Following The Holidays

The End Of Another Year Is Fast Approaching And A New One Is On The Horizon.  I Took A Few Minutes Away From The Holiday Rush..Cooking, Rearranging And Cleaning Up After All The Madness..And Headed Back To The Easel To Settle My Nerves A Bit.  It's Always Relaxing Picking Up A Brush To Move Some Oil Around.   Some Of You May Not Know, But I've Been Away From Painting For Awhile And Well...It Was Just Plain Fun Prepping A Small Study Piece, Getting My Feet Wet Again.  The Above Referenced Image Is Of My Beautiful Niece, Tarin Bachle.

Can't Really Explain It, But As Soon As I Saw The Reference Photo Of Tarin On Her Facebook Page
(Used By Permission Via Wayne Denmark Photography)
Something Inside Me Just 'Had' To Try And Bring Her To Oil.

This Study Canvas Is Only 8X8 But While Putting It Together I Made All The Mistakes I Won't Be Making Whenever I Bring The Composition To A Larger Canvas.  I Think I Just Had To Put Myself Back At The Easel Simply To Prove To Myself I Hadn't Lost My Stroke.  In The Coming New Year, I Will Most Definitely Return To My First Love From Time To Time And In-Between Continue To Make Beautiful Jewelry, Clay Figures And Whatever Else Beckons My Heart.
Happy New Year Everybody!
